Pier Road Coffee & Art are brining you the Littlehampton Portrait Artist of the Year.

After the success of the Landscape Artist of the Year, and a bit of planning behind the scenes they can finally announce the new competition for 2026.

During the month of February, artists will be invited to take part in the competition which is different in its set-up to the Landscape.

There are 28 places available, and they are spread out to 1 artist per day. Each artist will be set-up in the gallery with a table / easel space to produce a portrait in their own style. They can interpret the portrait in anyway they feel best represents them as an artist and the subject.

The portrait given to the artist will be a photograph of either a gallery customer or somebody famous to produce.

At the end of the month, all the artists work will be judged by the judging panel and the Top 4 selections & 1 public vote winner will be invited to participate in a live painting session with a sitter at the gallery.

The artists will have 5 hours to produce their work, each artist will be required to provide their own materials and anything they feel is required to complete the work.

Days will be assigned to artists but days can be requested to suit schedules.

Finished work will be exhibited in the gallery for the month, and can be available to purchase should artists wish to sell.
